How to take the Best Product Photos without Investing Everything Into It!

Good photos of your product is so important, since these high-quality, clear, and crisp images will help bring your brand to life. Consumers want something that looks good, and they’re not as forgiving as they were in the past. One bad image will ruin your brand.

There are a ton of new ways to get the perfect product photos though, even if you don’t want to spend an arm and a leg on it, and we’ll help you make sure that you’ve got the best images for your product, even on a shoestring budget.

Get Inspired

The best way to get the best product photos is to have a good springboard to work off of. For example, if you know a brand that’s got some killer photos, you can look at what they do, and then loosely inspire your product photos off that. You can do your competitor too.

While you shouldn’t copy, this is a good way for you to get some feeling for what you need to do, and it helps you get the high-quality photos really quick.

Get a lightbox

A lightbox is something that you can buy or make. Buying is usually the best if you’re short on time, but you can make them.

Basically, you just get a box, put it on the side so that it’s double the size of the item, tape the bottom parts up, cut off the flaps near the top, and then put a square on each side of this, and then give an inch or so around this square though so the box doesn’t topple itself. Then, put the white paper around there outer part of this to cover up your openings.

You can then use some lamps or some flood lights, and then, you just place it in there put the lighting on, and then take pictures. You can also make smaller platforms with other boxes, and then add the top to it to make it look professional.

Get a Good Camera

With a lot of photos, sometimes the secret is the camera.

You could be spending a couple thousand, or just a few hundred to ensure that you’re getting the best results possible.

How much you decide to throw into this is something that’s ultimately up to you. You can still get good photos if you decide to use a cheaper camera.

You should ideally go for a DSLR that’s mid-range, but if you’re struggling, a good cell phone camera is always something that you’ll be able to get some good results with.

You also may want to try different angles and details and see if there are any major angles that work well for this.,

Edit them!

You should make sure that you also edit the images, such as for brightness, white balance, and the contrast, so that the product stand out on its own.  There are a lot of people who don’t know how to use photoshop, but if you’re able to, and you have an account, use it.

If you don’t want to or don’t’ have the money for photoshop, there is GIMP, which is basically a clone of photoshop that’s open source, and if you struggle with getting some edits, then definitely try this.

Finally, for those taking packaging pictures, there are a few things that you can do so that you’re not wasting time with bad photos.

First, make sure that the art is sent inside vector files, including the fonts that should be printed, and it’s of the highest quality possible.
